Bilborough Town 0 - 5 Newark Flowserve

Bilborough Town 0 - 5 Newark Flowserve Price (21, 87) King (42) Agar (59, 90)

Town suffered their heaviest defeat on Saturday after going down 5-0 at the hands of league leaders, Newark Flowserve. The home side were immediately on the backfoot when four players failed to turn out for the squad for undisclosed reasons and this left manager, Steve Lee, with no choice but to hand debuts out to Matt Wilcox and 17-year-old, Adam Swain. Despite a bright start from Town, Newark went 1-0 up on 20 minutes when Price was found at the back-post and slotted away nicely into the bottom corner. Playing into the extremely strong winds, Town were riding the pressure from Newark well thanks to couple of last ditch tackles and saves from Ivanov. The 2nd goal came when a Price header was well-saved by Ivanov but Town were slow to react and King was on-hand to smash in the rebound from close range. HT 2-0 Given the weather conditions, Town didn’t look too concerned with the scoreline at half-time. What was concerning was the lack of depth in the matchday squad, knowing that fitness would play a key part in such a high-tempo game.

The 2nd half got to the worst start for the home side when Street mis-controlled a pass from Hayes that left Newark winger, Sam Agar, in on goal and he put it away to put the game firmly out of Bilborough’s reach. Town were physically flagging now and the 4th and 5th followed in quick succession, with the latter being the result of an unfortunate slip from Ivanov. The home side will need to pick themselves up from such a dire performance and hope that, with a full squad, they can turn this game around in the return fixture. FT 5-0
